Among the features offered by the Allen & Heath XB-10 are a channel for telephone communication (telco), microphone channel on sensor, remote and cue start for CD players and automatic muting of speaker outputs. Separate mixes can be created for the operator and presenter, and the operator can talk off-air to listeners on the phone using the Talk feature. The XB-10’s preamplifiers use low-noise discrete transistor-based circuits to achieve high gain with low noise. Each microphone channel comes equipped with the innovative CompACT compressor, to keep a presenter’s dynamic range under control. A variable limiter on the main output ensures that the final mix won’t saturate expensive broadcast equipment. The plug-and-play USB connection can be used for VoIP phone calls, recording program content, playing back jingles, among other tasks.

The XB-10 comes equipped with 3-band equalizers with mid-frequency sweep that uses MusiQ technology, with optimized contouring for a variety of sources. It has three microphone inputs with individual compressors and three stereo line inputs, balanced outputs – with insert – on XLR connectors and an alternative program bar (ALT) for external processing, recording or listening.
