The ATEM Television Studio models are the first live production switchers designed for both broadcasters and AV professionals. There are two powerful HD models with four SDI and four HDMI inputs and a new Ultra HD model with eight 12G-SDI inputs. Equipped with cutting-edge broadcast features, the ATEM Television Studio models feature resynchronization on all inputs, offering clean camera cuts whether you’re using professional or home cameras. In addition, you get a multi-view output to keep track of all your sources, preview and program on a single screen, auxiliary output, integrated intercom, two frame memories, an audio mixer, a camera control unit and much more! The ATEM Television Studio Pro models have the same features, plus an integrated professional hardware control panel and additional CCU controls. Both models are ideal for live productions, TV series, web shows, AV or even covering live video game competitions! Simply connect your camera, video game consoles or computers and start broadcasting live!
The new ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K model has all the benefits of the HD models and now includes Ultra HD compatibility with more SDI inputs! With eight independent 12G-SDI inputs, the ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K is compatible with all HD and Ultra HD formats up to 2160p60. Each input has resynchronization and a full low-latency standards converter, which means that the input automatically adapts to the format of the switcher. So all eight inputs can be used with different video formats! The updated Fairlight audio mixer features dynamics, a six-band parametric equalizer, two separate mono channels and a stereo simulator with audio delay on the analogue inputs. ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K also includes the ATEM Advanced Chroma Switcher, Ultra HD multi-view and moving clips in the media pool.
12G-SDI for Ultra HD up to 2160p60
The ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K has eight 12G-SDI inputs with standards conversion so you can connect HD and Ultra HD sources. Each input has a corresponding 12G-SDI output that can be used for camera return feeds with embedded control data. The mix minus feature is also available on each 12G-SDI output.
Full Pattern Conversion on Input
Each 12G-SDI input has an independent low-latency Teranex standards converter, allowing them to be used with any combination of HD and Ultra HD television formats. As the inputs are converted to the switcher’s format and resynchronized, you just plug it in and it works.
Advanced ATEM Chroma Key
The new ATEM Advanced Chroma Keyer is a next-generation keyer, offering incredibly clean overlays in real time for perfect green screen compositions. You get a host of important controls, including on-screen image sampling, borders, reflections, foreground color correction, individual/independent spread controls and much more.
Fairlight Audio Mixer
The ATEM Television Studio Pro 4K model now includes a new Fairlight audio mixer that includes professional audio tools such as a six-band parametric equalizer, compressor, limiter, expander/noise reducer, panning, audio channel separation for dual mono, stereo simulator on the analog and microphone inputs and audio delay on the analog inputs.

The ATEM Television Studio HD model is a truly professional switcher with an incredibly small footprint that takes up one rack unit, making it compact and portable enough to be used anywhere! The all-in-one design includes an integrated AC power supply, full front panel controls with buttons for selecting input sources for cuts, an integrated LCD screen, rotary knob and much more. The switcher is small enough to be used on a desk or slotted into racks using the optional Teranex Mini Rack Shelf. This means it fits in a single rack unit alongside other Blackmagic Design products, such as Teranex Mini converters, HyperDeck Studio Mini recorders, Blackmagic MultiView 4 or Blackmagic Web Presenter.

The front panel controls on the ATEM Television Studio HD include 8 large illuminated buttons for cutting between sources, as well as audio controls, buttons for the downstream switcher, fade to black, media players and cut bus-style or automatic switching with transitions. This means you can create a program directly from the front panel! This also makes ATEM Television Studio HD perfect for professional AV installations, where all you need to do is simply switch between sources. The integrated LCD screen allows you to adjust all the switcher’s features via the menus, and can also be used for video and audio monitoring, auxiliary control and to display the audio channel you are adjusting.

For maximum creativity and control, both models include a free and sophisticated software control panel. You can use the panel controls and parameter palettes to make live camera cuts, change transitions and adjust key settings. You can also load graphics directly into the switcher for display or switching, control the integrated hardware audio mixer, automate the playback of clips from decks and program and activate macros. The powerful camera controls allow remote adjustment of iris and focus, camera settings and color correction, all via SDI. You can work alone on your laptop or, for more complex events, use multiple laptops and people for transmission, camera control, audio mixing and graphics and media management, all at the same time! If you’re new to live production, you can start working with the ATEM Television Studio HD and then upgrade to the ATEM Television Studio Pro models when you’re ready for more complex jobs!

SDI and HDMI inputs

All models include 8 independent video inputs. The HD models have 4 HDMI and 4 SDI inputs, while the 4K model has 8 12G-SDI inputs. This allows you to connect up to 8 cameras, video game consoles, computers or other sources! This means you can start with affordable home HDMI cameras or work with professional SDI HD or Ultra HD broadcast cameras. You also get a sync input, analog audio input, RS-422 PTZ control and ethernet for connecting hardware or software control panels! All video inputs offer automatic frame resynchronizers, so you don’t need expensive cameras with genlock. The 4K model offers standards conversion on each input, so you can plug in an HD or Ultra HD source and it just works!

ATEM Television Studio includes professional program and auxiliary SDI outputs, as well as SDI and HDMI outputs for multi-view monitoring. The SDI program output allows you to connect to professional decks and recorders, such as the HyperDeck Studio Mini, so you can record your program in the highest possible quality. The HDMI and SDI multi-view outputs make it easy to monitor inputs, program and preview on any display, including large-screen TVs. What’s more, the 4K model even supports switching the multi-view output to Ultra HD. The auxiliary output allows you to send your broadcast program or a clean feed without graphics and overlays to any other display, deck or even to huge screens on stage behind an artist!

DVE transitions and impressive picture-in-picture effects !
A powerful “DVE” digital video effects processor lets you position, resize and scale live video, all in real time. This means you can create professional picture-in-picture effects with customized borders and shading with lighting. Imagine using a picture-in-picture effect to overlay a commentator while covering events such as sports, training videos, interviews and even gaming championships. You also get 17 DVE-powered transitions that you can use to shrink and fly between source videos or to create graphic wipe transitions with your own graphic elements!
Integrated intercommunication
Real-time two-way communication with your cameras!
ATEM Television Studio’s integrated intercom takes advantage of SDI channels 15 and 16, which are rarely used, to transmit intercom audio to and from the cameras. There are also headphone connections on the front panel for talking and listening to cameras that support SDI intercom. Intercom originating from the camera is embedded in the SDI video feed from the camera to the switcher. If you connect the switcher’s intercom SDI outputs back to the camera, the director’s intercom audio is transmitted to the cameras together with camera control and signaling. The 4 SDI outputs include intercom for cameras with mix minus. This allows you to relay the program audio to the interviewees so that they can hear everything except themselves and not be distracted by the echo of the delayed audio in their headphones!

Titles and Graphics
Add professional titles and graphics in seconds!
You can store up to 20 of your customized logos and graphics and get them live in seconds! Simply upload the files from the media management page of the software control panel to ATEM’s media pool and then select any file to run on the 2 integrated media players when needed. The media players use flash memory, so your graphics will be saved even after the power is switched off. There’s also a Photoshop plug-in included that lets you load Photoshop graphics directly into the ATEM media pool from a computer over an ethernet network. Now you can get customized titles and graphics on the air in seconds!

The ATEM Television Studio HD models include an upstream switcher with full chroma key for picture planes with green and blue screens. This means you can remove the screen and add amazing weather maps, graphics and virtual backdrops behind the on-screen talent! The upstream keyer works with chroma, linear, pattern and shape keys. The 4K model includes the new ATEM Advanced Chroma Keyer, which offers better control, image sampling, foreground color correction and scattering, for flawless chroma keying. You also get 2 downstream keyers for adding graphics, logos and watermarks to your video. What’s more, you can install a HyperDeck Studio Mini as a source for ProRes 4:4:4:4 files with motion graphics alpha channels that can be keyed over your live videos in real time!

Both HD models have professional multi-rate 3G-SDI connections and support SDI SD, HD and 3G video formats. The Ultra HD model is compatible with SDI HD and 12G video formats. So you can choose a model that allows you to work with any professional camera or deck in all formats, from NTSC/PAL to 720p, 1080i, 1080p and 2160p at up to 60 frames per second. External AudioUse the professional audio mixer to mix audio from all inputs, as well as audio from the analog XLR inputs and intercom input. Complete audio mixing is possible from the front panel, or you can use the audio mixer control tab on your Mac or PC to get an on-screen multi-track mixing interface with audio level indicators. You can precisely mix and balance the inputs, quickly enable and disable channels or set the audio to follow the video source automatically! If you need more powerful sound, the 4K model includes features such as a six-band parametric equalizer, compressor, limiter, expander, gate, pan, audio channel separation for dual mono, stereo simulator on the analogue and mic inputs and delay on the analogue inputs.
Remote Camera Control
Complete camera control from your switcher!
Get complete control of your cameras straight from ATEM Software Control! The Blackmagic Studio Camera can be controlled via the program SDI feed to the camera, so you can control camera settings and the color corrector, all remotely right from the software-based ATEM control panel! There are two types of control interface, one with a traditional camera control unit (CCU) style layout and the other with a color corrector interface that is the same as DaVinci Resolve’s primary color corrector, so you can take advantage of all your knowledge as a colorist using the program to add incredible creativity to your live production!
SDI Aux output
Power screens and video projectors on stages!
The ATEM Television Studio has an independent auxiliary output, perfect for feeding video screens on stages or for transmitting “clean feeds” without on-air graphics to recorders for program mastering. The “Aux” button on the front panel makes it easy to select exactly what you want to send to the aux output. The aux outputs can be selected for any video input, media players, preview bus, test signals and much more! The aux outputs are also fantastic for technical monitoring, such as when you’re doing camera control, as it can be configured to automatically switch to the camera you’re setting up.

The ATEM Television Studio HD takes up ⅔ the width of a rack unit, meaning you can mix and match additional equipment in a smaller space! For example, you can mount an ATEM Television Studio HD and use the free space to add a HyperDeck Studio Mini as a master recorder, all in a single rack unit. You can even add Teranex Mini converters to convert more sources between SDI and HDMI. You can also fit it together with Blackmagic SmartView 4K for optimal multi-view monitoring and even add a Blackmagic Duplicator 4K, which allows you to simultaneously record your show on 25 SD cards in real time, so you can sell it to your clients at the end of events!
