Open Architecture Converters!
Blackmagic OpenGear Converters are fully compatible with the OpenGear standard used by broadcasters for rack-mounted converters and video processing. Blackmagic OpenGear Converter models are compatible with 2U (rack unit) OpenGear cabinets for 20 cards. Many manufacturers develop cabinets and OpenGear cards that can be mixed and matched. OpenGear cards are hot-swappable and can be controlled by the Java-based DashBoard network control and monitoring program on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
10 Great Models
Choose from models for analog and HDMI video, audio, fiber optics and sync generators! There is a unique model of card for each type of video conversion. All models have 3G-SDI multi-rate that automatically switches between all SD and HD formats up to 1080p60. All AES/EBU audio inputs have sample rate converters and all audio connections can be switched between analog and AES/EBU audio!
High Quality
Blackmagic OpenGear Converter models are manufactured to the highest quality standards with low fluctuation SDI. You get longer SDI cable runs combined with ultra-low-noise analog video and audio for a true broadcast-quality solution.
3G-SDI Multi rate
The 3G-SDI connections built into the Blackmagic OpenGear converters are multi-rate so they can automatically detect and switch between all SD and HD video formats and standards up to 1080p60. This also makes them fully compatible with all your SD and HD equipment.
Automatic SD and HD switching
Blackmagic OpenGear Converter models switch between all SD and HD video formats instantly as soon as the video input is changed. They are compatible with a huge variety of standards and new formats can be added via USB.
Redundant SDI input
The Blackmagic OpenGear Converter SDI to Analog and SDI to Audio models include a single redundant SDI input for mission-critical work or live broadcasts. Simply connect a redundant cable to the second input and, if the main SDI input is lost, the Blackmagic OpenGear converters will automatically switch over in an instant. An SDI loop-through output is also provided for connection to other devices. You can also loop with other OpenGear converters by de-embedding more audio channels.
Analog Audio or Integrated AES/EBU
OpenGear converters include 24-bit analog audio and 24-bit digital audio. You can select either analog audio or AES/EBU digital audio via mini-keys or remotely via the DashBoard network control program. The Blackmagic OpenGear converters will then switch to use either analog or digital AES/EBU audio. Blackmagic OpenGear converters support standard 2-channel or 4-channel rear audio modules, so they can be used with other OpenGear-branded products.
Hardware Down Converter
If you have older standard definition analog equipment in your facility, you may know how difficult it is when modern SDI equipment switches between SD and HD unexpectedly. The Blackmagic OpenGear Converter SDI to Analog includes an incredible HD down-converter that automatically adapts to the format of the SDI video input and transmits standard definition analog video in letterbox, anamorphic 16:9 or center-cut 4:3.
Easy to use
Blackmagic OpenGear Converters are common and easy to use. With 3G-SDI technology , each card is completely compatible with all your SD and HD equipment. The Blackmagic OpenGear converters can be configured via mini keyboards, with the DashBoard program, or via USB using Blackmagic Design’s Converter Utility. There are three completely different ways to configure them so that you are never left without an outlet during a critical live situation.
