Introducing the Teranex Mini, the next generation of 12G-SDI converters with award-winning Teranex technology and support for all SD, HD and Ultra HD formats up to 2160p60. All Teranex Mini converters include an internal AC power supply, professional AES/EBU and analog XLR audio connections, an ethernet port for remote management and alternative PoE power. The Teranex Mini has an upgradeable front panel that includes a color display and user controls so you can quickly monitor video and change settings directly from the front of the converter! You get all the same great features as conventional mini converters and much more!

The new Teranex Mini converters make setting up installations and supporting all different types of video equipment easier than ever. Teranex Mini converters are perfect for broadcast installations, as they can be rack-mounted and the optional front panel allows you to follow what is being converted on screen! They can even be controlled remotely via ethernet. Their compact size makes them ideal for portable racks at live events or in mobile broadcast units, plus they have professional audio XLR connectors for connecting to sound desks and other audio equipment! You can even use them in editing and color correction suites to guide large-screen displays and projectors!
Reinventing the Mini converter

Teranex Mini converters are so small that you can use them as conventional mini converters, hiding them in cable ducts, behind equipment or attached to televisions for monitoring. The new flexible design of the Teranex Mini converters allows you to use them on your desk for easy viewing or you can rack mount them in larger broadcast systems. Unlike conventional mini converters, professional audio XLR connections are integrated into the converters, and each converter has an ethernet connection so they can be managed remotely. Mini switches are included so you can change settings instantly or, when you’re doing mission-critical work, you can add the optional front panel to watch exactly what you’re converting.
Rack mountable
The world’s first rack-mountable 12G-SDI converters!
Board-based converters with rack mounting are expensive, they can’t handle high SDI speeds such as 12G-SDI, and you have to buy a complete rack chassis even if you only want to install one converter. Teranex Mini converters can be rack mounted in a number of different combinations and you can remove them and use them without rack mounting whenever you need to! Each converter includes an AC power supply and Ethernet, so there is no single point of failure. Unlike card-based converters, you can get up close and change the settings from the front panel, monitor the video being transmitted by each converter and also control them remotely via ethernet. As they are so small, you can mount them on the front or back of a rack or in a hard case.

The Teranex Mini converters feature state-of-the-art multi-rate 12G-SDI technology that is 8 times faster than the conventional HD-SDI connection. The 12G-SDI connection is multi-rate, so it will automatically detect and change all SD, HD and Ultra HD video formats instantly, so you can connect the Teranex Mini to all your existing SD and HD equipment. The 12G-SDI connection supports high Ultra HD frame rates of up to 2160p60 on a single BNC cable, so you can work in Ultra HD and maintain your production workflow at higher frame rates for fast-moving sports or action programs.
Intelligent Thermal Design

Teranex Mini converters feature an innovative cross-cooled thermal design that keeps them running smoothly, even when rack-mounted side by side and in harsh environments! An intelligent thermal subsystem and an internal heat pipe help with cooling and keep air circulating at all times while minimizing noise levels. When mounted side by side, each Teranex Mini works together to disperse air throughout the rack, keeping them cool and providing redundancy for each converter.
Teranex Mini Smart Panel
Monitor videos on your converter!
The Teranex Mini Smart Panel takes the guesswork out of using a converter! Now you can see the video being transmitted by your converter using the integrated LCD screen. The panel also features push-buttons and an easy-to-navigate on-screen menu that lets you quickly adjust and save settings. The Teranex Mini Smart Panel is perfect when you’re in the field or on a set without external monitors, or even when you have multiple rack-mounted converters and just want to keep track of what’s being converted by all of them!
Remove the two screws on each side of the existing panel and remove it carefully.
Connect the Teranex Mini Smart Panel and secure it using the screws.
Broadcast connections
Professional connectors for XLR audio, ethernet and IEC AC power supply
All Teranex Mini converters feature professional standard broadcast-quality connectors, including professional audio XLR connections and high-speed BNC connections for processing the extremely high bandwidth of advanced 12G-SDI technology. All models include a 90V-240V AC multi-voltage power supply and a standard IEC AC connector, so you can use any power cable. The integrated ethernet connection enables remote administration and can also be used to power the converter when connected to the power over ethernet switch.
Digital and analog audio
Truly professional sound quality !
The professional XLR connections can be switched between balanced analog audio or AES/EBU so you can connect any professional digital or analog audio equipment. If you’re working with professional digital audio equipment, you can maintain your digital audio throughout and guarantee perfect digital quality. With professional audio integrated into all converters, you can connect SDI video systems with professional audio equipment such as sound mixers, effects processors, compressors, limiters and much more. For analog audio, Teranex Mini converters have an extremely low noise floor of over -115 dBFS, so even analog audio background noise is virtually inaudible.
HDMI Instant Lock
Instant image blocking on home HDMI TVs
HDMI televisions and projectors are great displays, but they can take a long time to pick up a signal when a new source is connected. The SDI to HDMI model includes our new HDMI Instant Lock™ function which solves this problem by continuing to transmit an active HDMI signal to the display even when the SDI input is disconnected. If an SDI input with the same format as the previous signal is connected, it can lock instantly and in just 1 frame! So, if you install a 12G model of Teranex Mini SDI to HDMI at the output of your router, when you switch sources, the monitor will update instantly. It’s the same as using a clean switching router!
Fiber Optic Models
Set up broadcast installations using fiber optics!
Fiber optic SDI is becoming more popular because it supports extremely long distances, even at the high speeds of 12G-SDI. Fiber optic cables can be installed by electricians or computer network technicians, so they are easy to use. Each Teranex Mini model has a corresponding model for fiber optics so you can work with native fiber optic systems and convert directly from fiber optics to HDMI, analog video or audio. The HDMI models in the Teranex Mini range have a corresponding fiber optic option so that you can operate native fiber optic systems and convert fiber optics directly to HDMI.
Local or remote control
Control and manage your converters with ease!
Like ordinary mini converters, the Teranex Mini includes integrated mini switches and a diagram printed on the converter itself so you can change settings quickly and easily. When using the Teranex Smart Panel, settings can be changed using buttons and the simple on-screen menus. If you are working in a large installation using many converters, you can control them via ethernet through a Mac or Windows computer using the Converter Utility software included.

Developed using Teranex’s high-quality video processing technology, the Teranex Mini is ideal for all kinds of broadcast, post-production and professional video applications. With full reclocking on the SDI inputs and low fluctuation, you can use longer cables and, as Teranex Mini converters are designed for 12G-SDI, you can take advantage of extremely long cable runs when working with lower SDI speeds, such as 6G-SDI, 3G-SDI and HD-SDI. When converting to analog you’ll have an extremely low noise level due to the high-quality processing of 12-bit video. When running Ultra HD to analog video, the Teranex Mini will increase the resolution or down-convert to analog HD automatically!

33-Point 3D LUT Support!
Create personalized looks with cinematic-quality, high-precision 3D LUTs
The Teranex Mini SDI to HDMI includes a complete 3D linearization table for very high precision conversion that allows you to apply custom looks, colors and gamma adjustments to real-time monitoring during filming on set! LUTs can also be exported on the SDI output with loop through, so you can even use the Teranex Mini SDI to HDMI as a 3D LUT processor. Includes support for DaVinci Resolve 3D LUTs, so you can use the same LUT on set and in post-production for a consistent color workflow! Two separate 3D LUTs can be loaded via the administration software via Ethernet, or via the optional Teranex Mini Smart Panel.
