Like the LX-24, the WHEATSTONE L12 has all the latest features and is hot swappable down to the individual fader. This cousin of the popular LX-24 is big on capacity, but sized for news production, narration work and all those applications that require a solid control surface that will be delivered on time. The WHEATSTONE L8 is based on the same design principles as the LX-24 – a low-profile, precision-built, desktop IP control console with individual hot-swappable fader modules that offer assignable sources to any fader. Each fader can access four stereo output buses, a stereo signaling bus and its own individual Minus Bus. An OLED source name display, A/B source selector and programmable knob are also provided, and a SET button gives access to the assignable controls in the master section. Snapshots of the L-8 or L-12 configuration can be saved and recalled at the touch of a button, making it easy to set up different working sessions. The L-12 meter bridge has three sets of bright, high-resolution LED meters. A digital timer is also included. The console has control room and headphone outputs with level and source selection controls, as well as an independent studio monitor output. These are designed for use with the WheatNet-IP Intelligent Network. An IP87BBL BLADE Audio Console provides audio mixing functionality as well as powering the L-8 (the L-12 has a dedicated power supply); additional BLADES can be added for inputs and outputs in a variety of digital and analog formats. These new IP consoles are elegant, versatile and low-profile (no table cut-out required). Simply connect the L-8 or L-12 to your WheatNet-IP intelligent network and quickly assign any source of any type, from anywhere on your network, to any channel fader.

With WheatNet-IP BLADE-3s, you get a virtual rack room in a 1-rack space box. They handle all I/O (AES/EBU, SPDIF, AOIP, MADI, SDI and AES 67) and provide full routing capabilities. Each BLADE-3 offers two 8×2 utility mixers, 12 universal GPI/O ports, 128 software logic ports, silence detection, integrated audio player, stereo multiband audio processing and much more, available anywhere on the network. With it, you can create workflows that would require a ton of third-party equipment.

Cool things about the L-8 and L-12
Any channel can be assigned to one or more of the program’s four output busses, making its material available for an on-air feed as well as an internet stream, for example. Any input can be called up on any channel on L-8 / L-12. This means, for example, that the feed you’ve connected to input 7 on the back of the BLADE Console (or ANY BLADE I/O interface) can appear on channel 2… or any other channel. The same with any input. Not only that, you can assign a backup or a different source to the same channel and switch quickly using the SOURCE A / B buttons.As if that wasn’t cool enough on its own, think of the flexibility if / when you decide to connect the L-8 / L-12 to a network. Imagine having any source on the network at your fingertips, without any patches.

We built the L8 / L-12 wheatstone (in New Bern, NC USA, by the way) to be easily accessed by you. There isn’t a single surface, you have to dismantle the whole construction here. If you need access to a channel, all it takes is two screws and you’re in. It’s easy to service or simply change a module. Each fader has a dedicated Mix-Minus output that includes all the active faders on its selected source bus, except for itself. These automatically generated monaural Mix-Minus signals can be routed to feed telephone hybrids or other devices as required. Alternatively, these outputs can be set to provide a separate direct output from that channel only, consisting of the source assigned to that channel. It couldn’t be easier
1. Using standard CAT-6 cables, connect the L8 / L-12 wheatstone control surface and the BLADE to a managed gigabit Ethernet switch. 2. Connect some of your own audio sources to the BLADE Audio Console.
Take the output from the BLADE to wherever you want your audio. 3. turn it on and start mixing! That’s it!

The Modules
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]InputA / B SET A press of this button toggles between the channel’s A and B source inputs. Press and hold (SET) to program the channel’s source signals and to access the PAN and MODE functions. SOFT A one-press programmable button; usually used to access hot source preset selection or channel mode settings. ASSIGN Assigns the channel signal to the console’s four output busses: Program, Audition, Auxiliary and Utility. INFO An OLED color display that shows the signal source, fader and channel mode settings. TB A momentary switch that activates talkback for the bus-minus / IFB output associated with the channel’s source signal. CUE Places the channel signal on the console’s cue bus. FADER A long-range Penny + Giles fader sets the channel’s output level. ON / OFF These switches turn the channel signal on and off. It can trigger external source feeds.

FUNCTION A rotary encoder that cycles through various control options whenever a SET button is pressed on the console. TAKE Once the function control has selected the desired result (source, mode, pan, event, etc.), pressing the TAKE button activates that option. PAN Displays the signal of the selected channel in the stereo field. MODE Sets the signal of the selected channel to left, right, stereo or mono. EVENT The L-8’s console can store 8 named events (snapshots of the console’s control surface) for instant recall. INFO Displays information associated with a SET button – input panels, events, etc. CR / HDPN Five source selection buttons (EXT, PGM, AUD, AUX, UTIL) that determine the control room monitor/headphone feed. HDPN Sets the output level of the built-in headphone amplifier (output socket located at the right-hand end of the console). SPLIT CUE Sums the current monitor source L + R and sends it to the right channel; CUE appears on the left channel. INFO Displays source and location information for the current CR / HDPN monitor signal, as well as bar graph indicators for the headphone and CR output levels. CONTROL RM The level control for the monitor output signal from the control room.
METER Similar to the CR / HDPN source selection switchbank. Determines the monitor source for the console’s switched meter pair. TIMER Start / Stop toggle or RESET (hold down) for the digital timer of the measuring scale. The AUTO switch starts the zero timer when the ON switch of a programmed input channel is pressed. METER / CLK Displays the signal information of the switched meter pair; includes a digital time-of-day clock. STUDIO Similar to the CR / HDPN source key bank. CUE Sets the main level of the console’s CUE bus. TB A momentary action switch that sends the console operator’s microphone signal to the studio monitor output. INFO Displays source and location information for the studio monitor signal, as well as bar graph indicators for monitor and studio output levels. BLADE IP-88CB Audio Console
The IP88CBL offers powerful interface options, including four AES inputs, four stereo analog inputs, four AES outputs and four stereo analog outputs on RJ45s; control room and stereo analog outputs on XLRs, two microphone level inputs with gain compensation and switchable phantom power on XLRs; signal and headphone outputs on RJ45 and 1/4 “TRS ports and 12 GPI logic ports on RJ45. There is an integrated DC power supply for the L-8.
The L-12 uses an IP-88CB and a compact external power supply.
